# CLI telemetry

The Relaybraid CLI sends one anonymous usage ping per command. It contains:

- the command name (`init`, `login`, `run`, ...)
- the CLI version and the operating system
- the name of the coding agent running the command, when one is (read from the `AI_AGENT` variable or the agent's own marker variable)

It never sends file contents, environment variable values, API keys, prompts or your code. The ping is skipped when `RELAYBRAID_TELEMETRY=0` is set or `--no-telemetry` is passed, and the CLI works the same either way.

Each CLI and SDK call also carries `X-Relaybraid-Install`, the id of this project's install, minted by `init`. It identifies the project, not a person.

The SDK (`relaybraid` on npm) sends no ping. Each API call it makes carries two extra headers: `X-Relaybraid-Agent`, the same agent name, and `X-Relaybraid-Setup`, the `setup` value you passed when constructing the client, if any.

We use it to see which commands fail for which agents, so we can fix the docs and the CLI for them.
